Kindergarten Orientation

Kindergarten Orientation is Monday, August 15th at 9am. Kindergarten families should have received an invitation in mid-July.

Start Time

School starts Tuesday, August 16th. The car doors (Door D) open at 7:10am.  The tardy bell rings at 7:45am. If your child comes to school after 7:45am, please have them enter through door A and stop in the office to get a pink tardy slip. Students will also be marked tardy if they are not in their seats at the beginning of each class without

School Uniforms

Please note the girl’s uniform changes that were implemented are meant to be a phase in process. Both blouses and polos will be acceptable uniform policy for the 2022-2023 school year.

We understand there are many items on backorder from Schoolbelles, please know we are well aware and will make any necessary accommodations until the items come in.

Dress Code Reminders

*No Apple Watches/FitBits are to be worn

*Belts are optional in Grades K-1

*With the new air conditioning system, some classrooms do get cold, students will only be permitted to put on an SJJ approved sweatshirt and/or quarter zip.  It may be beneficial for students to keep one in their locker.

From the Finance Office

The My School Account Lunch Program is no longer being used. We will bill for cafeteria items through the FACTS Tuition Management System, which is the same system used for tuition, bookstore, after care, etc. You will receive instructions in the next month on how to order lunches for your student as well as options for making payment. In the meantime, the students may continue to tell their classroom teacher that they would like to purchase lunch each day as we have done in the past. Charges for lunch will appear on your FACTS account daily. Please be patient as we convert to this new system.

Aftercare prices have also changed. The cost for aftercare will be $4 per hour per student with a minimum charge of $8 (or two hours). Charges are billed in 60 minute increments regardless of the amount of time the student is in aftercare for that hour. There will no longer be a discount for three or more students attending aftercare.

Here Comes the Bus App

Families that reside in Strongsville are encouraged to get the Here Comes the Bus App for Strongsville busing. Please see attached flyer. You will need your child’s specific Student ID to sign up for this service. Please follow the steps below to see your child’s individual Student ID’s. Strongsville Transportation is hoping to have this up and working on or after Monday, August 15th. Thank you for your patience.

To find your child’s Student ID: Go into your Family Portal – Choose Family – This opens Family Home. Use the drop down in the middle of the screen to select child. That opens a screen that will show your child’s unique Student ID needed for the Strongsville Bus App.

Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union

Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union is partnering with Catholic Schools for the 2022-2023 school year with our Student Banking Program.

This program encourages students in grades K-12 to start saving by opening their very own savings account. At Ohio Catholic FCU, that’s the Genesis Savings account.

Students are rewarded for saving their money with a PREMIUM INTEREST RATE on deposits up to $5,000. Along with the Genesis Savings account, students 15 years and older can sign up for the Student Checking account.

Plus, one Genesis Savings account member from your school will be randomly selected to receive a $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP GRANT towards Catholic education tuition!

Our Student Banking program conveniently allows account openings and deposits to be made at school, plus your students receive tailored financial literacy classes. An Ohio Catholic FCU representative will visit your school monthly to open accounts, collect deposits, and share money lessons with students.

Ohio’s Tax-Credit Scholarship Program

We want to thank everyone who has availed themselves of this opportunity! As of July 21, our school already has $7,500 designated towards helping our students! Using the FACTS program, all SJJ families are eligible to apply for consideration to receive a scholarship on their tuition. This new State of Ohio tax-credit scholarship program allows donors to reduce their tax liability and provide scholarship funding for students seeking a Catholic education. Contributions to the Angel Scholarship Fund will be used to provide need-based tuition assistance for students to attend our Catholic schools. Donors to this fund will be eligible for a 100% tax credit on their 2022 Ohio income tax form, up to a maximum amount of $750 (or $1,500 for married couples filing jointly),and can designate the school to which they would like their support to go! Any Ohio tax-payer can choose to designate our school! You can find out more by visiting www.catholiccommunity.org/angel and through speaking with your own tax professional. Our students thank you for your consideration of this opportunity!

Parent Alert Communication System

SJJ will be using a new communication system to help improve and facilitate communication with our families. Parent Alert will allow us to send out communications via Text, Email, and Voice Messages for all type of events. These alerts can be used for many reasons and will provide us a fast, efficient way to communicate with our families. To ensure you are able to receive our alerts please text the keyword “START” to 22383 from your mobile device. Any text alerts from our school will begin with “SJJ Alert” and calls will show from 440-238-4877.

Per the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, we provide all recipients with the option to Opt Out of receiving school alerts. Anytime we send a text alert, you will see ‘Stop to End’. If you reply ’Stop’ you will no longer receive our text alerts regardless if we select you as a recipient.”

It is important that you sign up for these alerts as I will be using this to communicate school information to you throughout the year. I will no longer be using Remind101.

SJJ App

We are in the process of getting an SJJ school app. It is being tested now and should be up and running by the beginning of school. We will update you with information on this when it is ready.

Enjoy the last few days of summer break!

In service of youth,

Mr. Akosi
