Wellness Policy 2021-2022

Please help us slow the spread by adhering to a mask mandate for our faculty, staff and students when they return to school on January 4. We will reevaluate around February 4, 2022 and communicate if adjustments are needed once the surge goes down. No mask exemptions will be accepted unless signed by a pediatrician.  Read the full letter from our principal here.

Sts. Joseph and John School has created a plan for the school year following the guidelines given by the Ohio Department of Education, The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and the CDC. The safety of our students, faculty and staff were foremost in all decisions. The SJJ Task Force strived to construct a plan to provide consistency for our students while following the safety guidelines.

Additional Notes

In an effort to adhere to the wellness policy for Sts. Joseph and John School, the following adjustments have been made regarding food products brought into the school.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS: Students may dress up/down on their birthday.  They are acknowledged during the morning announcements.  Students are permitted to pass out non-consumable items to their classmates such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc.  Students are not permitted to bring consumable treats to school.  If parents would like to purchase a snack bar ticket ($.50) for each class member to enjoy an item from the snack bar, including ice cream, it can be arranged with the food services manager.

All lunch and snack bar items served in the school have been approved by the State of Ohio and the U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines. Arrangements for purchasing snack bar tickets for the class must be made by contacting Mrs. Lynn Cahall at 238-4877 ext. 32 at least one week in advance.

Mystery Readers:  We have always enjoyed having volunteer parents, grandparents or special guests come to the primary classrooms to read stories.  Mystery Readers cannot bring consumable treats for the students.

Classroom Parties:  Teachers and room parents must meet to plan the menu for classroom parties.  Menu items, including drinks, must be taken from the approved list supplied to the teachers.
