Dear Parents,

This week our 3rd graders had a seatbelt presentation held by the Strongsville Police Department and they discussed the importance of wearing your seatbelt. It is always great working with our police department to show and bring safety to our students.

Our 4th grade has been showcasing their skills this week by presenting their Ohio’s Wax Museum. We had some of the following Wax Museums students here at SJJ:  Bob Feller, John Glenn, Gloria Steinem, Lillian Gish and Bernie Kosar. Everyone did an amazing job and it was fun to see the students dressed up in character and sharing their reports.

Friday, we celebrated our 4 year old Preschool Graduation. I wish them all the best next year in Kindergarten and hope that they have a great summer.

Our Physical Education Teacher, Mr. Mogilnicki, will begin his paternity leave next week. He and his wife are expecting their second daughter on Sunday. Congratulations to The Mogilnicki Family! We are excited to see a familiar face back at SJJ to fill in for Mr. Mogilnicki. Mr. Holzworth will finish out the year teaching Physical Education class. Welcome back Mr. Holzworth!

8th graders learned about the stock market and entrepreneurship in computer class this year in partnership with St. Ignatius’s Alpha Jump Program. Congratulations to 8th grader Lillian who won first place in SJJ’s First Shark Tank Competition.  Lillian also won 3rd Place in St. Ignatius’s Alpha Jump Stock Market Challenge in the fall.  8th grader, Sal came in 3rd place in the spring Alpha Jump Stock Market Challenge. Great job students!

I have also attached a letter from The Bishops of Ohio about the Lifting of the Dispensation from the Obligation to attend Holy Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. Each parish will communicate their own changes, so please stay tuned.

Our final House Meeting of the year will be held on May 25. Students may wear their House Shirts with their school uniforms.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

In service of youth,

Mr. Akosi
