Dear Parents,

Thank you to all that attended our Open House last Sunday to start off Catholic Schools Week.

What is Catholic Schools Week without a snow day or two? Every year there seems to be a snow day during this week. I hope all of the students enjoyed the activities that were planned while we were in session this week. It was really nice being able to bring back outside programs to SJJ and see the excitement on the students’ faces. Thank you to everyone that volunteered their time at the Book Fair. This was a huge success!

Our STEAM Museum assembly, which was scheduled for Thursday will be rescheduled for Friday, March 25, 2022.

Conferences

We will hold optional Conferences on Monday, February 7 from 2:30 – 5:30pm. There are NO CONFERENCES on February 18.

Mask Policy and Remote Learning

As we mentioned in our January 1st Parent Communication, we would reevaluate the mask policy on February 4. As Covid cases decline in Ohio and Cuyahoga County is now one of the lowest in the state, SJJ will lift its mask policy on Monday, February 7. As always, we strongly encourage all faculty, staff and students to wear a mask. We will continue to monitor this policy as we go throughout the remainder of the school year.

Due to recent changes from the CDC, we will no longer offer remote learning for students that have to quarantine. Please refer to our Homework/Make Up Work Policy starting on page 10 of our handbook. As a reminder, homework can be requested the morning of the second day absent, and can be picked up from the table outside the office between 2:00-3:00pm.

Thank you all for your cooperation.

School Calendar

The 2022 – 2023 school year calendar is ready. Please see the attached copy.

Reenrollment

The enrollment period has begun and will conclude on February 25.  All enrollment packets must be completed before the enrollment end date. Don’t forget, if you are completely registered by Sunday, February 6, your child(ren) may dress down on Monday, February 7.

Morning Drop Off Reminder

We are noticing that parents are using the center bus lane (between the church and school) during morning arrival and are exceeding the 15 mph speed limit. The safety of our children is our highest priority. Please be sure to use the southern-most drive off of Pearl Road to access the car line. Only cars arriving after 7:45am should be using the driveway in between the church and the school. Thank you for your cooperation by driving slowly on school property to protect the children and staff at SJJ.

Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union Scholarship

A $1,000 Student Scholarship Could Be Yours!

We’re delighted to announce that Sts Joseph and John School is participating this school year in the Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union Student Banking Program.

This program encourages students in grades K-8 to start saving, simply by opening their very own savings account. At Ohio Catholic FCU, that’s the Genesis Savings account. Students are rewarded for saving their money with a premium interest rate on deposits up to $5,000. Plus, one Genesis Savings account member from our school will be randomly selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship grant towards Catholic education tuition!

Once each month, a representative from Ohio Catholic FCU will visit our school to open accounts, collect deposits and share money lessons with students.

SO MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Our next visit from Ohio Catholic FCU will be on Wednesday, February 16th, from 7:15am – 7:45am.

The deadline for opening a Genesis Savings account to be eligible for the Student Scholarship is March 31, 2022.

To open your child’s Genesis Savings account, you will need to show your child’s social security card at account opening. You will also need to show your driver’s license. A minimum $10.00 deposit is required to open an account.

If you want more information, contact our school’s banking representative at Ohio Catholic FCU: You can also watch the attached video for a more informative presentation.
