Dear Parents,

Easter Break begins on Thursday, April 14 at 11:45am. There will be no lunch and no aftercare that day.  The Brunswick bus will not run in the afternoon.  School resumes on Monday, April 25.  Enjoy your break!

Field Trips

Our 6th graders went on a field trip to Columbus this week. They had a guided tour of the Mansfield Reformatory, spent some time at COSI, toured the Ohio Statehouse Capitol and went to the Olentangy Indian Caverns where they toured the caves and did gem mining.  They finished off their trip with a delicious dinner at Der Dutchman.

7th graders went to Saint Ignatius on Wednesday to watch the annual chariot races. They had a lot of fun and laughs watching the students of St. Ignatius race (and some crash) their homemade chariots. Look for pictures on our social media page.

4th grade Wax Museum

The fourth grade transformed McGraw Hall into a Famous Ohioan Wax Museum.  As always, check out our social media pages to see pictures of Doris Day, Bob Evans, Steven Spielberg and many others.

Dress Down for Ukraine

On Wednesday, April 13th we will have a $1 or more Blue and Yellow Dress Down to support Ukraine. All money will be donated to the Bridge of Hope which has been helping millions of

refugees enter Poland for safety and shelter. Your donation will go to provide water, food, clothing, mattresses, washing machines, medical supplies, etc. Many of the donations will go towards tourniquets for the wounded soldiers of Ukraine. Please continue to keep Ukraine in your prayers and any donations will make a significant change in these Ukrainian lives. Thank you for your support.

Ohio’s Tax-Credit Scholarship Program

You may recall that we sent a note from Fr. Joe earlier this year in February announcing Ohio’s Tax Credit Scholarship Program. We want to thank everyone who has availed themselves of this opportunity as we just learned that as of April 1, 2022, our school has the second highest amount in the Diocese ($4,500) already designated for our students! Using the FACTS program, all SJJ families are eligible to apply for consideration to receive a scholarship on their tuition. This new state of Ohio tax-credit scholarship program allows donors to reduce their tax liability and provide scholarship funding for students seeking a Catholic education. Contributions to the Angel Scholarship Fund will be used to provide need-based tuition assistance for students to attend our Catholic schools. Donors to this fund will be eligible for a 100% tax credit on their 2022 Ohio income tax form, up to a maximum amount of $750, and can designate the school to which they would like their support to go! You can find out more by visiting www.catholiccommunity.org/angel and through speaking with your own tax professional. Our students thank you for your consideration of this opportunity!

A Special Invitation as St. Joseph celebrates 75 years

You may have noticed that St. Joseph Parish is in the midst of its 75th Anniversary celebration. Four years after St. Joseph Parish was founded, in September 1950, St. Joseph School began educating the youth of Strongsville and with the 1977 founding of St. John Neumann, Sts. Joseph and John was born in September 1978. As part of their June Closing Celebrations, St. Joseph is producing a Commemorative Book that will include a history of the parish, pictures, and an opportunity for local sponsorships. This is a unique and special time in our collective Catholic history within our city. St. Joseph’s 75th Anniversary Committee would like to extend an invitation to our parents, especially of our soon-to-be graduates, to contribute a congratulations message to their graduate or another student, within the pages of this special book. If you are interested in doing so, a gift of $25 is requested and we ask that you contact Dawna Meng at 440.552.9256 or dawnsdlite@aol.com for details. Submissions need to be completed by May 1, 2022 to be included within the book that will be available in June.
