Dear Parents,

The beginning of a new school year reminds us that the future holds infinite possibilities! I hope that your summer was relaxing, filled with trips and good health because you deserve it.

The 2021-2022 School Theme is “Passport to Peace.” Let all that you do be done in love – 1 Corinthians 16:14. At SJJ, we strive to create a loving school community by focusing on God’s love for us and how God calls us to love each other.

I would like to welcome alumni, Mr. Joseph Clark to SJJ. Mr. Clark will be our new Physical Education Teacher. A few teachers have moved grades for the upcoming school year. Mrs. Ketterick will teach 2nd, Mrs. Kazimir will teach 4th and Mrs. Thomas will teach 5th grade.

There will be a weekly communication that will be sent out through email at the end of each week. Please be on the lookout for them. SJJ will be bringing back several clubs this year. Information about these clubs will be sent out through these communications and some clubs fill up quicker than others. So remember to act fast!

Please note the following change to our start time. Students must be in their classroom by 7:45am or they will be marked tardy.  The car line door will be open from 7:10am to 7:45am. Anyone arriving after that, must go through door A and receive a tardy slip from the office.

Kindergarten Visitation Day will be on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 9:00am to 10:30am. We are excited to welcome our new Kindergarten class to SJJ!

As we prepare for the new school year, we want to communicate our protocols as we prepare to move forward. At this time, the plan is to make masks optional in all grades. This policy includes students, teachers and staff members. It is strongly recommended that children and staff that have not been vaccinated wear masks. It is not mandated. There may still be a possibility of a quarantine situation should a positive case occur with students who are not masked/vaccinated. We will have more information on this as we get closer to the start of the school year.

As we did last year, we will continue to be flexible and will change protocols if necessary. There will be the possibility of a temporary mask implementation during the cold/flu season. We know that masks are effective at preventing many other illnesses including strep and flu as we saw by our attendance records last school year. Our plan includes the continuation of cleaning including hand sanitizers and handwashing throughout the day. In grades where students are switching classes, desks will be cleaned in between switches.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our 1st – 8th grade Meet the Teacher Night and supply drop-off on Monday, August 16th. This will begin at 6:00pm in St. Joseph Church with a brief prayer service and then you will be dismissed to the school to attend your child(s) session(s). Due to limited spacing, we are asking for only parents to attend. Please see the schedule below for Meet the Teacher Night and a note from Mrs. Francis.

May you continue to enjoy summertime with your family!

Mr. Joseph M. Akosi
