Our History

St. Joseph Catholic School was founded in 1950.  The school had very humble beginnings.  Sister Marguerite, three Sisters of Saint Joseph church, and one teacher welcomed students to Saint Joseph Catholic School for the first time.  They were prepared to teach grades 1-8 in only four classrooms and one multi-purpose room.  Through their dedication and hard work, the school flourished and grew.

In 1977, St. John Neumann Parish was established in Strongsville.  Both St. Joseph and St. John Neumann Parishes thrived independently with only one mile distance between them.  In 1978, it was decided that an “interparochial” school be created to accept and serve students from both parishes.  Sts. Joseph and John School was formed.  It has expanded to also serve parishioners of St. Colette Church in Brunswick and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Columbia Station.  Sts. Joseph and John is the only private elementary school serving the Strongsville community.

Sts. Joseph and John School continues to grow and flourish today and has grown to offer education for students in preschool through eighth grade.  Sts. Joseph and John School now also boasts a science lab, computer lab, wireless mobile computer lab, computer smart boards, Spanish language program, and more.  We are proud that Sts. Joseph and John School was also recently honored as a “National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.”
