Bringing The New SJJ Makerspace to Life

Posted 4 months ago by Jennifer Kopkas - [School: Marketing]

The 2018-19 school year will see many changes at Sts. Joseph and John School.  The entire staff is excited to announce that a Makerspace is now available in the Library.  Many teachers have worked together to create this unique space where children can explore, create and problem solve using Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering skills, Art and Mathematics. All grades and classrooms will have access to this space!

For a major project like this to come together so quickly is nothing short of remarkable. This is real results in real time. It is a true testament to the commitment these teachers and administrators have for the children.

Parents are invited to get a first hand look of the new SJJ Makerspace during Meet the Faculty Night on Thursday, August 16th. Several items are still needed to finalize the space. Flexible seating will allow children free movement between stations and tasks. An ActivPanel has also been suggested to help teachers as they instruct or present problems to solve. Donation envelopes will be on hand to help fund these much needed final pieces. Families that give a $100 donation will have their name on a plaque displayed in the new classroom. Receipts will go home sometime during the first week of school. All monetary donations are certainly welcome.

The staff of Sts. Joseph and John School want to thank all families for their support. It is an exciting time as we watch our Vikings bring this new space to life.
