SJJ Students Take Home Top Prize at State Finals

Solving problems encountered in everyday life, that’s the mission of the Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Competition. Two teams proudly represented Sts. Joseph and John School at this year’s State Finals held July 29th at the Ohio State Fair. Estelle F. & Gianna L. with “EzOpen” and Madison R. & Emma C. with “PukPicker”.

Inventors compete based on their grade level during the 2017-18 school year. Students selected to represent their districts throughout the state range from grades K-8th. Prizes are awarded for best in grade level and best in their respective industry.

In the end current SJJ 6th graders Estelle F. and Gianna L. walked away with the top Agriculture Industry Innovator Award (5th-8th)! Their “EzOpen” produce bags are designed with tabs on each side for faster opening. They are easier, cleaner, and faster to open saving more than 10 seconds per bag. The invention is especially helpful for people suffering from debilitating conditions like arthritis.

We are so proud of our Vikings who now move onto the 2019 National Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Expo in the spring!
